ViVE’s Dr. Khairat serves as a primary mentor for a UNC School of Medicine grant.
Dr. Kandyce Brennan has been awarded a prestigious K12 grant from the UNC School of Medicine to develop AI-powered conversational tools to improve access to sexual and reproductive health information in rural communities. Her project, beginning February 1, 2026, will focus on building trust in AI and addressing health disparities through human-centered design. Dr. Saif Khairat will serve as the grant’s primary mentor, with Drs. Jennifer Leeman and Christine Dehlendorf (UCSF) serving as co-mentors.
